This content should not be construed as personalized financial advice, investment advice, insurance advice, legal advice, or tax advice.
No Professional Relationship: Use of this website and its content does not create a professional advisory relationship between you and MaxFunded IUL or any of its affiliated advisors. A formal advisory relationship is only established through execution of appropriate agreements and disclosures.
Seek Professional Advice: Before implementing any financial strategy, purchasing any insurance product, or making any financial decision, you should consult with:
- A licensed insurance agent or broker
- A qualified financial advisor or planner
- A tax professional (CPA, EA, or tax attorney)
- An attorney for legal matters
Individual Circumstances Vary: Financial strategies that work well for one person may not be appropriate for another. Your individual circumstances, including age, health, income, tax situation, risk tolerance, and financial goals, must be carefully considered before implementing any strategy.
No Guarantee of Results: Past performance, historical data, case studies, and projections do not guarantee future results. Actual outcomes will vary based on individual circumstances, market conditions, policy performance, and numerous other factors.
Insurance Product Disclaimer
Indexed Universal Life Insurance
Product Complexity: Indexed Universal Life (IUL) insurance is a complex financial product that may not be suitable for all individuals. IUL policies combine life insurance protection with cash value accumulation linked to market index performance, subject to caps, floors, participation rates, and various fees.
Not FDIC Insured: IUL policies are not deposits or obligations of, or guaranteed by, any bank or credit union. IUL policies are not insured by the FDIC, NCUA, or any other federal or state government agency.
Issued by Insurance Companies: All IUL policies are issued by licensed insurance companies and are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing company. We work with highly-rated carriers (A or higher by AM Best), but all insurance involves some degree of company risk.
Important Product Features & Limitations
Returns Not Guaranteed: While IUL policies offer a 0% floor (protection from market losses), credited interest rates are not guaranteed and will vary annually based on index performance, caps, and participation rates. Projected policy values shown in illustrations are based on assumed rates and are not guarantees.
Caps and Participation Rates: IUL policies have maximum credited interest rates (caps) that limit upside potential. Caps can be adjusted by insurance companies annually, though they cannot go below contractual minimums. Current caps may not be maintained throughout the life of the policy.
Fees and Charges: IUL policies have various costs including cost of insurance, administrative fees, premium expense charges, and surrender charges. These costs reduce cash value accumulation, especially in early policy years.
Surrender Charges: Most IUL policies have surrender charges that apply if the policy is surrendered (canceled) during the surrender charge period, typically 10-15 years. Surrender charges decrease over time and eventually reach zero.
Policy Loans: While policy loans are not taxed as income when the policy remains in force, excessive loans or policy lapse with outstanding loans can result in taxable income. Loan interest charges apply and can compound if not repaid.
Lapse Risk: If premium payments are insufficient or policy loans are excessive, the policy may lapse (terminate). A lapsed policy with outstanding loans may result in significant taxable income.
Underwriting & Insurability
Health Requirements: IUL policies require underwriting and approval. Not all applicants will qualify. Health conditions, lifestyle factors, and other underwriting criteria affect eligibility and premium rates.
Premium Classes: Premium rates vary significantly based on health rating (Preferred Plus, Preferred, Standard, Rated/Table). Illustrations shown on this website typically assume Preferred or Preferred Plus ratings. Your actual premiums may be higher if you receive a Standard or Rated classification.
Licensing & Compliance
Licensed Advisors: All insurance recommendations and policy sales are conducted by licensed insurance agents who hold appropriate state licenses for life insurance and annuities. Licenses are maintained in all states where business is conducted.
Broker of Record: MaxFunded IUL operates as an insurance brokerage, representing multiple highly-rated insurance carriers. We are not captive to any single insurance company, allowing us to shop your case among multiple carriers to find the best fit for your situation.
Compliance & Supervision: All insurance sales are subject to state insurance regulations and carrier compliance requirements. Policy illustrations and recommendations are reviewed for suitability and compliance before presentation.
State Regulations: Insurance is regulated at the state level. Different states may have different requirements, protections, and regulations. All recommendations take into account applicable state laws and regulations.
FINRA/SEC Registration: MaxFunded IUL is not a registered investment advisor and does not provide securities-related investment advice. We focus exclusively on insurance-based financial strategies. For securities advice, consult with a registered investment advisor.
Policy Illustrations Disclaimer
Illustrations Are Not Guarantees: Policy illustrations shown on this website or provided by our advisors are projections based on assumed rates of return. They are not guarantees of future performance.
Assumed Rates: Illustrations typically use assumed credited rates (commonly 6-7%) that are neither minimum nor maximum rates. Actual credited rates will vary annually based on index performance and policy provisions.
Multiple Scenarios: Professional policy illustrations include multiple scenarios showing:
- Current Assumptions: Based on current caps and assumed rates
- Lower Performance: Typically 2-3% lower than current assumptions
- Guaranteed Minimum: Worst-case scenario using guaranteed minimum values
Carrier-Generated Illustrations: Official policy illustrations are generated by insurance companies using their approved illustration software. Illustrations must comply with state and NAIC model regulations. Always review the actual carrier-generated illustration before applying.
⚠️ Read Illustrations Carefully
Policy illustrations contain important information about assumptions, limitations, and guarantees. Read all pages of the illustration, not just the summary page. Ask questions about anything you don't understand.
Illustration Changes: Policy illustrations can become outdated if cap rates, participation rates, or other policy provisions change. Request updated illustrations periodically, especially before making significant decisions about premium changes or policy loans.
Supplemental Materials: Calculators, comparison charts, and examples on this website are simplified educational tools. They do not replace official carrier illustrations and should not be relied upon as precise projections.
Tax & Legal Advice Disclaimer
Not Tax or Legal Advice: Information about tax benefits, tax-free policy loans, estate planning, creditor protection, and other tax or legal topics on this website is general educational information only. It is not personalized tax advice or legal advice.
Tax Laws Are Complex: Federal and state tax laws are complex and subject to change. Tax treatment of life insurance policies depends on many factors including policy design, premium payments, loan amounts, and individual circumstances.
Consult Tax Professionals: Always consult with a qualified tax professional (CPA, Enrolled Agent, or tax attorney) regarding:
- How life insurance fits into your overall tax strategy
- Tax implications of policy loans and withdrawals
- Estate tax planning
- Modified Endowment Contract (MEC) testing and limits
- State income tax considerations
Consult Legal Professionals: Always consult with an attorney regarding:
- Estate planning documents (wills, trusts)
- Beneficiary designations and their legal implications
- Creditor protection laws in your state
- Business succession planning
- Any other legal matters
Tax Law Changes: Tax laws can and do change. Information provided about current tax treatment may become outdated if laws change. The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act significantly changed many tax provisions and is set to expire in 2025, potentially changing tax rates and deductions.
State Variations: State tax laws vary significantly. Some states have no income tax, while others have rates exceeding 10%. Creditor protection laws also vary substantially by state. State-specific advice requires consultation with professionals licensed in your state.

Affiliate & Compensation Disclosure
Commission-Based Compensation: MaxFunded IUL and its affiliated advisors are compensated through commissions paid by insurance companies when policies are sold. These commissions are built into policy premiums and do not represent an additional cost to you.
Multiple Carrier Representation: We represent multiple insurance carriers and are not captive to any single company. This allows us to shop your case among multiple carriers, but it also means compensation may vary by carrier. We strive to recommend policies based on your best interests, not commission levels.
No Hidden Fees: We do not charge additional fees beyond the commissions paid by insurance companies. All costs are disclosed in policy illustrations and policy contracts.
Potential Conflicts of Interest: Commission-based compensation creates a potential conflict of interest, as advisors benefit financially when policies are sold. We mitigate this through:
- Multi-carrier representation (not pushing one company)
- Detailed policy comparisons and illustrations
- Thorough suitability analysis
- Education-first approach
- Compliance oversight and supervision
No Guarantee of Recommendations: Consultation with our advisors does not guarantee that life insurance or any particular product will be recommended. Some individuals may not be suitable candidates for IUL.
